Mr. Stone's Tutorial- How to Use the Epic App
The Epic app (https://www.getepic.com/) will be free outside of school until June 30th, 2020. Once this app has been downloaded to a tablet or smartphone, follow the prompts in the video.
1- You already have an account.
2- Select Student/Educator.
3- Enter your class code. It can be found on my Google Classroom page.
4- Search for your child's name.
5- Find a book. Books can be categorized by age. Not all books will be an audiobook or "Read To Me" book if you are using your headphones and are unable to hear anything.
6- The number of books read and how well a student does on the quizzes will determine their level and status.
7- If sharing this app with multiple users on the same device, switching users and classes are explained in this video.
8- "Ask three before you ask me." This was standard operational procedures in my Technology classes with the 1-3 grades. Students were encouraged to ask three of their classmates if they had a problem with their device before they asked me. This is because technology is more than learning computer skills. Technology teaches you how to solve problems. Now, I can't be there to help you and while this is sad, you can be there for your family to work through challenges with the Epic app.
