A European competence framework for a low carbon economy and sustainability through education
In this session, we will present the ECF4CLIM project (https://www.ecf4clim.net/), its main objectives, methods and results. Through a multidisciplinary, transdisciplinary and participatory process, ECF4CLIM develops, tests and validates a European Competence Framework (ECF) for transformational change, which will empower the educational community to take action against climate change and towards sustainable development. We rely on an innovative hybrid participatory approach that combines elements from action research, citizen engagement, deliberative will formation, crowdsourcing and theory-based stakeholder evaluation. Right now, we are gathering empirical evidence in twelve primary and secondary schools and universities from Finland, Portugal, Romania and Spain with the final aim of enhancing the individual and collective sustainability-related competences.
