Horizon Studio Performance with close mics replaced with Trigger 2 and TCIs made from this session.
So when I finally got around to doing all the tedious work of chopping all the close mic samples up and turning them into TCI files for use with Trigger 2 (I will have them available for free when I get the video up of the making process coming soon), I decided why not use them to replace the all the close mics on the solo I did? And guess what, it worked out great as you can hear!
The plan all along was to get really good close mic TCI files because in the future I plan to replace all my close mics with triggers. And, since I’m really not a huge fan of the stock Trigger sounds (they’re recorded great but none of them are really the kind of drum sounds I like to go for) I decided to make my own with the help of Rick Demko and Horizon’s amazing live room.
I am very pleased with the results. I’ve been chasing the Tim “Herb” Alexander type sound for a long time. This isn’t it exactly but it’s getting close enough.
