Launching a Fundraiser for Safia Omarova
Safiya is one and a half years old. She is the third daughter in the family, but she is very different from her sisters. Safiya has mucolipidosis type II, a very rare genetic metabolic disorder that affects the entire body.
She was born at 36 weeks of pregnancy, tiny. She has respiratory failure, so she depends on an oxygen concentrator. Safiya's mother says that she and her daughter spend most of their time moving from hospital to hospital, so even a week at home is a treat.
Despite her diagnosis, Safiya is quite active. She can roll over and grab and squeeze toys. She loves it when her mother or sisters play her cheerful songs and cartoons. Doctors warned the parents that their daughter will never walk or talk. The family has accepted this fact but is doing everything possible to slow the progression of the disease.
Safiya feeds independently from a bottle, but only a specialized high-protein formula. The "House with a Lighthouse" children's hospice provides Safiya with food, as well as supplies for her oxygen concentrator and aspirator. A year's supply of all the necessary supplies costs 423,000 rubles. Together with the Domashny TV channel, we are launching a fundraiser to cover this amount.
