Here's one I wrote back in '00 while living on Anapuni Street in Honolulu. Sunburn was coming back and writing again. In fact, this is another one that Sunburn played live, but we never recorded it together.

Back in 2003, when I first came back to Honolulu, and just after my first daughter (Gwen) was born, I enlisted former Sunburn drummer Dave Fanelli to record three tracks with me at The Sounds of Hawaii Room on Young Street in Makiki. That's where Brudda Iz recorded the world-famous 'Over The Rainbow'. Don't look for it now, its currently a body shop (and still haunted).

My intent with this track was to create a 'singing song' in an alternate time signature. So the main groove is in 7/8, and I change into a four during the chorus and middle eight section. Dave played along with my rhythmic self-indulgences brilliantly.

I actually started this one out as a shaker tune - but I never added a shaker or egg to this recording, not sure why. I meant for the two beat groove accent of a shaker (chicka-chaka) to help solidify the main riff and have it sound 'normal'.
