During World War II, the Germans invented many types of weaponry that still captivate our imaginations. The most striking of these were featured in previous installments. Now, continuing the series, I'll tell you about the unusual weapons of the Third Reich,
not included in the previous six parts.

10. The Heinkel He 176 was a German jet aircraft. It was the world's first aircraft powered solely by a liquid-fueled jet engine. Piloted by Erich Warsitz, it made its maiden flight on June 20, 1939, near Warnemünde. The engine, which ran on hydrogen peroxide and methanol, produced a thrust of 5.88 kN (600 kgf). It was lighter, more reliable, and safer than von Braun's engine, and its firing endurance was increased to 60 seconds. Another interesting innovation implemented on the He 176 was the cockpit, which could be completely separated in an emergency. The work on the He-176 was not particularly remarkable, but it laid the foundations for the development of rocket technology.
9. Luftfaust-B – a German nine-barreled anti-aircraft grenade launcher from World War II, designed to engage low-flying aircraft at altitudes below 200 meters. The gunner fired from the shoulder. The entire ammunition load was fired in a sequential salvo—five rockets immediately after the trigger was pulled, and the remaining four 100 milliseconds later. In 1945, it was planned for serial production to equip Wehrmacht infantry units, SS troops, and Volkssturm units as a means of providing cover against enemy tactical air raids. In March 1945, the company received an order for 10,000 grenade launchers and 4 million rounds of ammunition. In fact, about 100 Luftfausts of the second model and a limited run of rockets were manufactured by the end of the war. The results of the Luftfaust's combat use and its performance in combat are unknown, so it is impossible to judge the combat performance of the anti-aircraft grenade launcher based on operational experience in the field, rather than solely on laboratory and field testing.
8. Siegfried Rödel's snowmobile auger vehicle, model 1944. The principle of the auger-rotor all-terrain vehicle's propulsion is simple. The vehicle is equipped with two or more rotors—Archimedes' screws—coaxial with the direction of travel. As they rotate, they push against the mushy or liquid substance through which the vehicle moves, propelling it forward. Rödel himself fought in Russia, and after his first winter campaign, he conceived the idea of creating a vehicle for driving across Russian snow. However, the auger-rotor vehicle never went into production, but its creator and his family enjoyed plenty of driving around the ski resorts of Bavaria and Austria in this machine.
7. Hecht—a German two-seat electric midget submarine developed during World War II. Three prototypes and 50 production boats were built—a total of 53 units. Hecht-class submarines remained in service until the final months of World War II. Throughout this time, the primary purpose of this type of equipment was to train submariners who would operate newer, more advanced submarines. Just a few months after the Shchuk's delivery began, the Kriegsmarine began receiving the first midget submarines of other types. The first German midget torpedo submarine project cannot be considered entirely successful. However, it did allow for the collection of essential information on the various features of such equipment and the drawing of important conclusions. This resulted in the development of several new submarines that saw active use in combat.
6. Henschel HsP.75 – Henschel developed this project in the second half of 1941 as a possible replacement for the Messerschmitt-110 heavy fighter. The HsP.75 project was a single-seat, twin-engine, canard-design aircraft with a vertical stabilizer located beneath the rear fuselage and two contra-rotating, three-bladed propellers.
