Arnside Knott is one of my favourite camping spots in the whole of England, and I'd been looking forward to a quiet solo hammock night up here for weeks. Golden light over the bay, barely a breath of wind, the most perfect evening. I genuinely thought this might be one of the best camps I'd ever had 💗

Then, at about 1am, the sky completely turned on me. A massive thunderstorm rolled in out of nowhere, rain coming in sideways, the whole bay lighting up, and by 2am I was soaked through, a little bit shaken, and packing up in the pitch dark to make a run for the car. So much for the perfect night....
