Downtown Buffalo New York Tornado Damage
On August 5th, 2024 a waterspout came onshore around 12:45 and moved its way across the downtown area. It caused extensive damage including roofs blown off, chimneys destroyed, cars turned over, and a ton of tree and power line damage. Preliminary ratings are an EF1. This is the first time in recorded history that a Tornado went through downtown Buffalo.
2024 has been the year of tornados. WIth the tornado today, New York State has beaten the old record for most tornados in a year with 26 tornados so far, this passes the old record in 1992 of 25. We still have a few months left in the tornado season!
