Data Model Columns:
A data model column is a data container.
It defines the type of data, but not include any formatting information relating to the report output.
Types:
-Data source columns
-Developer-created columns
Developer-created columns:
-Summary column
-Formula column
-Placeholder column
Summary column
It summarizes another column and can recalculate for each record in a specified group.
A summary column performs a computation on another column’s data.
A summary column always applicable only one column that means single column.
The following properties apply specifically to summary columns:
Function: The calculation to be performed on the values of the column specified in Source.
Source: The name of the column whose values are to be summarized.
Reset At: The group at which the summary column value resets to zero.
Compute At: The group for which a % of Total summary column is computed.
Create Summary Column:
1. Total Employees
2. Display Department wise emp id ranking, add column rank
3. Calculation Total salary
4. Calculation total commission
Total employees:
-Go to Data model
-Create summary column from tool palette to report area.
-Go to it’s Property inspector and customize Property
-Go to paper layout
-Create field
-Define Source column
-Compile & run it

Calculate the total salary each Department:
-Go to Data model
-Create summary column from tool palette inside the G_department.
-Go to it’s Property inspector and customize Property
-Go to paper layout
-Create field inside repeating frame of G_department
-Define Source column
