Protection for public PDF files
Today I am going to demonstrate how StarForce protection works for the documents located on any web site in open access.
On the web page that I use as an example you can see three groups of files:
1. Unprotected files. It is the first chapter of the book “How to reach success”. We can open it in the browser’s window. By the way I use internet explorer but you can use any browser you prefer.
2. Then protected PDF documents group 1
3. And protected PDF documents group 2.
Let’s open a file from group 1. We cannot do it, because our file has a non-standard extension – SFPDF. Files with this kind of extension can be opened only by a special reader. I am downloading starforce reader from this page. You also can put the link to it somewhere not far. It takes a few moments to download and install the reader. You may need administrator rights for that.
The reader’s installation doesn’t give the right to access the information. To open this file I also need a serial number. So here we need to interact with the publisher – the owner of the content.
