In this video, we walk through how to download, install, and set up OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) from scratch on Mac or PC. We cover where to grab OBS from the official site, how the interface is laid out — the preview canvas, sources, scenes, audio mixer, and controls — and how the auto-configuration wizard takes the guesswork out of getting your settings right. We dig into choosing between 1080p and 720p canvas resolutions, why 30 FPS is the sweet spot for most live streams (and when 24 or 60 makes sense), and how to connect OBS directly to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, or a custom RTMP server with a stream key. We also cover the bitrate test that picks the right output for your network, the virtual camera feature for using OBS as a webcam in Zoom or Google Meet, studio mode for previewing transitions, how to pull YouTube and Facebook chat directly into OBS, and how profiles and scene collections let you switch between platforms and graphics packages without rebuilding everything from scratch.
