Lookeba - Binger - El Reno Tornadoes May 24, 2011
Michael Seger and Richard Cox on a chase in western and Central Oklahoma. We first picked up a wedge tornado coming out of Binger. We moved to the east to get out of its way and eventually caught a second tornado, a cone, which appeared to be east and south of the wedge. The same supercell later hit El Reno, Piedmont, and Guthrie. This was a personal chase for me as the tornado was on a direct course for my parents' house, and I was on the phone with them instructing them to take cover. The tornado missed their home by a half a mile but unfortunately others in their neighborhood were not so lucky. We couldn't reach the storms farther south, though we did encounter damage on I-35 between Norman and OKC. The last storm we followed tracked from Okemah to Haskell. We were never able to catch it, but we did encounter debris along that path, along with several closed roads.
