Premier Presentation of Treadle Machine projects: I'm using my Rugby treadle machine it to make quilted placemats. The trick to using a treadle machine....don't sit on a chair with wheels! I'm going to use this machine for future projects. Be sure to follow along.
This treadle machine was gifted to me. It was originally owned by my friends' grandmother Emma Torbeck of Boonville, MO. She obtained this machine around the time of the birth of her first child in 1910. She used it to make clothes for her family, which included SEVEN children. It was made in St. Louis, MO by the Norvell-Shapleigh Hardware Co. and sold by Montgomery Ward stores. The RUGBY model was made from 1901 - 1915, further supporting the approximate date for this machine c.1910.

Thanks for watching,
Sherri
