Hey everyone! I’ve been deep in the trenches developing a hand-to-hand combat system for my game, and today I wanted to share some progress! 💪
In this latest test, my character engages in directional melee attacks against an NPC, and let me tell you—getting this right is no joke! 🎮 The system isn’t just about throwing punches randomly; it reacts to positioning, enemy direction, and context, ensuring that combat feels fluid and natural.
Right now, I’m polishing motion warping-based attacks, so depending on where the player is facing, the character will automatically adjust attack angles and animations—whether it’s a frontal punch, a side kick, or a brutal finisher when the enemy is low on health! 🥊🔥
One of the biggest challenges? Handling multiple enemies. When surrounded, the system needs to determine who can be hit, from which direction, and trigger proper hit reactions. This means balancing AI behaviors, combat flow, and animation choices, ensuring the fights feel dynamic and satisfying!
Still a work in progress, but every tweak makes it better! Let me know what you think! 🎬✨ #GameDev #IndieDev #UnrealEngine #meleecombat
