E3D Quality & Error Resolution is a technical series dedicated to identifying, analysing, and resolving common modelling and engineering errors in AVEVA E3D. Each episode focuses on real project scenarios where small modelling mistakes can lead to coordination issues, rework, or downstream deliverable problems.
This first episode is based on a classroom demonstration, where a student accidentally connected a piping branch to the wrong equipment nozzle during a modelling exercise. While the routing may appear acceptable at first glance, incorrect nozzle connectivity can lead to problems in model integrity, process intent, and downstream deliverables such as isometrics.
In this walkthrough, we inspect the branch connectivity to determine whether the head or tail of the branch is incorrectly connected. After identifying the issue, we disconnect the branch, remove and reposition several components, and then reconnect the branch to the correct nozzle. This approach demonstrates a clean and efficient workflow for correcting the error while maintaining proper model connectivity.
