Estimating the efficiency or effectiveness of screens from the data of mass fraction of materials retained on screens.
Screen analysis or screening is separation of materials of varied sizes using set of screens or meshes. A screen is 100% efficient if it is capable of separating the oversized materials as overflow, and undersized materials as underflow. Many a times screening is not effective; undersized fractions are also leaving in overflow, and oversized materials are leaving in underflow. This may be due to imperfections in the screen, and faster operation, etc. Effectiveness of a screen is estimated by screening the overflow and underflow materials (from that screen under consideration) with standard set of sieves.
