So, for all of you who, like me, are having problems with the crashing and infinite looping and related problems in Windows 10 installed via Bootcamp on your Mac, I have great news for you! Got it working!
However I must say in advance that this at least worked for me, I can't guarantee it will work for you, but it's worth a try.
The problem in my case (and I guess in the case of many of you) is the graphics card.
I bought an iMac in the end of 2015, with the Graphics Card Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200, and apparently, Windows doesn't get along very well with it.
So, and making a quick summary of the problem, you must not let Windows install its drivers automatically. You need to install them yourself through the Bootcamp software.
There are quite a few websites online with various tips, but only some of them worked for me, so I'll just gather them all here!
So, here are the steps:
1) In OSX install windows 10 with ISO image file through Bootcamp
2) In OSX download windows support software from the Bootcamp action menu
3) Copy this folder to a freshly MS-DOS formatted USB drive
4) Reboot into windows, and don't connect to the internet, it might crash
5) Copy the windows support software folder to the Desktop
6) Go to control panel, administrative tools, then choose services
7) Scroll down to windows update and double click on it
8) Under service status, select stop if possible (this will prevent Windows Update from running)
9) Select the startup type dropdown and select disable
10) Click apply
11) Run the windows support software setup from bootcamp and install everything
12) Reboot
13) Go to the Device Manager, and right click on the Intel driver under Display adapters and Properties
14) Open the Details tab
15) Under the Property drop down menu, select Hardware IDs
Now you should get a list of IDs for the graphics card hardware. Now you need to block those IDs from updating. Let's continue...
16) Press Windows Key + R
17) Type gpedit.msc and press enter
18) Double click Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Device Installation, Device Installation Restrictions
19) Double click "Prevent installation of devices that match any of these device IDs"
20) Choose Enabled in the upper left part, and below click Show...
21) Now you just need to copy the IDs you found in step 15 and paste them here (should you have problems with any other driver, you can paste their hardware ID here, and it won't be updated)
22) Click Apply and OK until you close all the windows
23) Go to control panel, administrative tools, then chose services
24) Scroll down to windows update and double click on it
25) Select the startup type dropdown and select manual and click apply
26) Under service status select Start
27) Connect to the internet
28) Run updates normally, and Intel drivers won't be updated (no crash will happen)!
There is one step I also made which was to keep the wifi connection metered in Windows Settings. Not sure if it has any effect, but you can try if you have problems.
29) When you finish everything and it seems there are no problems, don't forget to create a System Restore Point, just in case something happens in the future.
And that's it! This worked for me, hope it works for you! ;-)
