Movies and shows keep coming out at an alarming rate, and continuity is building up. With each new superhero or sci-fi film that comes out, we keep going back to reference the lore of previous films.
However, all that LORE and continuity is actually starting to clutter up our modern stories, overflowing things until we tumble over each other.
