So today we are going to talk about Kahoot. I personally like making my Kahoots from my phone or iPad App. So here's what the interfacing looks like if you are using iOS. To do this, and to create your review or quiz on Kahoot you are going to open the App like I have here, then you're going to click "create" in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. And at this point this is where you're going to add your image, your title, your description, and decide on your visibility. This is very important, it's going to let you know if you want this Kahoot to be private or public. And you're going to have this describing image at the top for your students to see. So I'm going to make this Kahoot about Social Media Smarts, which is something we've been talking about in my class recently. So I'm going to select this as my graphic and as my title I'm going to title this "Social Media Smarts". So to describe this you can enter a very brief description, they give you 280 characters. I'm going to notate what grade I'm teaching-grade 7-this doesn't really fall into any of these categories so I'm going to leave it blank. You could mark it as trivia if you want, but if you see it hashtags it for you so that makes it searchable. And in my description I 'm good with that. So for visibility you have two options, public or private. I'm going to leave this private because I only want my students to find this using a join code, I don't want just anyone to see it. And it wouldn't really help anyone because I'm going to use specific to our content curriculum questions and answers. So once you have this done, you tap to add a question. So this is where you're going to add your question and answer options. You toggle it back and forth to say if it's correct or incorrect and you can also change the time limit to fit your question type. So for my first question-let's see here...what happens if I type in social media? I like using this image library feature because it ensures that all of these images are vetted and appropriate. You're not going to have anything pop up in a search for images that would be inappropriate. So as you can see here you can upgrade to Kahoot Pro, but I'm not really interested in that so I'm just going to go with a stock image of a computer which they SHOULD have. And of course, because I said it I jinxed myself. So let's just grab any image, this cat will do.My question is going to be what is the best way to keep yourself safe on social media? Let's say that that's my question, I can come up with at minimum two answer choices but answers three and four are always available as well.So let's say here we say "never give out your information...period. This is something we say in my class...a lot. Let's just make up a bogus answer like "share your home address." Very clearly a correct and an incorrect answer, so at this point i"m going to mark my correct answer. All you do is toggle that green button and the you can go on and add your next question. Now 20 seconds is a long time for a seventh grader to answer this so I'm going to bump it down to five, because I'm only giving them two answer choices and it's a very simple question. They should be able to answer that right away. From there you can add more questions. You can add images or videos here, it's very very simple. You can keep coming back to this screen so that when you're done my Kahoot is right there so you can see the overall checklist as well when you open this you can see what all you have done, how many plays you have, how many questionsa re here, if there are any questions that have been favorited or is this a favorited Kahoot. You can use that to see how you're doing. You can also go in here and host a Live. Which is what you want to do if you're using it in your classroom. A challenge is great for independence practice. Which means that instead of playing against each other, students can just challenge themselves. Single players can practice, this is just the best and coolest app. I find it to be one of the few teaching tools that is easier for me to do from my phone in an App than from my computer. So if you guys have any questions you know my email address is [email protected] and I would love to pop by your classrooms and help explain to you guys the epic-ness that is Kahoot.
