How to achieve that amazing VRay Interior look in 3 minutes !

Transcript:
This tutorial assumes that you are a beginner using VRay hoping to achieve that VRay interior look that you see all the time and almost exclusively mythologized by VRay.

I have good news for you, you are only a few clicks away from achieving that look because VRay is THAT easy to use, let's get this thing going.

This is a simple room with windows at the side, there is nothing special about it, it's a box with holes.
Instead of furniture's, I opted for one of my robots to take the furniture's place, again it doesn't matter, it's a room with things in it, go figure.

Now let's get straight to the point:
First, turn on Global Illumination.

Next drag out a VRaySun and position it to shine through the window at the angle of your choice.

VRay would then ask if you would like to automatically add a VRaySky environmental map, go ahead and click yes.

Note: The VRaySun was designed to work alongside the VRayPhysicalCameras, however, not everyone understands the photography side of things, hence I will forgo that to streamline this tutorial.

Adjust the Intensity Multiplier of the VRaySun to get a decent fill light going, for this scene, I used a setting of 0.01.

This is the result.
For interiors, you do not want to get to the final optimum lighting using just the VRaySun, it should really only serve one purpose, and that is to get that beautiful light casting you see going on here.
Not too bright, not too dark, just perfect, this is the ONLY purpose the VRaySun should serve.

Now it is time for the actual lighting.
Drag out one or multiple VRayLights and size them so that they match the size of your room's windows.
Put them slightly behind the windows.

Turn on Invisible to let the VRaySun pass right through them and Turn off reflection so that any reflections will not accidentally reveal large rectangular lights where the windows are.

Now adjust the VRayLight's multiplier until the room is sufficiently lit.

Finally but not necessary, add in some fog in Photoshop for dramatic purposes and there you have it, the mythical VRay interior quality look.
