Notifying about a second citizenship and residence permit
You must notify the Ministry of Internal Affairs within 60 days of acquiring a second citizenship or residence permit.
For those who are outside of Russia during this period, the notification period begins upon their return to the country. Although notification can be submitted through Russian diplomatic missions abroad, this is not mandatory.
Notification about a second citizenship or residence permit can be submitted in person at the local Ministry of Internal Affairs office or online using the Gosuslugi portal.
Russian citizens have the right to multiple citizenships and residence permits without risking loss of Russian citizenship, provided that each new status is officially registered with a separate notification.
Failure to notify about new citizenship or residence permits may result in a fine and criminal liability.
