Russia Launches Fourth Super Frigate That Will Be A Major Part of North Pacific Fleet
The New frigates are designed to perform a wide range of tasks. They are capable of hitting surface ships, convoys and landing squads of the enemy, conducting the search and destruction of submarines and ground targets, as well as providing air defense, anti-submarine and missile defense. The ships are fitted with two vertical-launching systems (VLS) with 16 and 32 cells. The former houses the Kalibr family of missiles that provide high-speed, long-range anti ship and land-attack capabilities—as well as anti submarine warfare options.
