This sequence of the movie Hochelaga: Land of Souls (at 1h 09 min 44 s) shows the arrival of the explorer Jacques Cartier to Hochelaga in 1535. The movie chose to believe that the indigenous he met were Kanien'kehà:ka (called Agniers in French and Mohawks in English), but this version is contested by the Wendats. This is why the kanien'kehà language is spoken, with a few adjustments to agree with the lexicon written in the logs of Jacques Cartier. Jacques Cartier will also visit in 1541 a village called Tutonaguy on the same island. When Samuel de Champlain will come back in 1603, the villages found by Jacques Cartier will be gone. The end of the video is an allusion to the Franco-Iroquois Wars of 1660-1701.
