Korg Volca Bass & Korg Electribe ES-1 Improvised Jam.

This is my first recorded jam with the Korg Volca Bass. A simple percussion loop was sequenced on the Korg ES-1, and then synchronised to the Volca Bass using a MIDI cable. The Volca Bass was connected into the audio input of the ES-1, so that some of the built in ES-1 effects could be used. Most of the percussion samples used in the ES-1 were taken from a Zoom MRS 804 multi track recorder which has a built in drum machine. I should imagine it is the same drum sounds used in the likes of the Zoom Rhythm Track 123, or something similar. Square wave was used on the first pattern on the Volca Bass, where the active step feature was used to manipulate the same pattern. At around about 10 minutes into the recording, Saw wave was used on the second pattern, as well as the active step feature. Further into the recording the LFO with filter set at high resonance and Reverb is used to mash up the pattern beyond recognition.

Recording equipment used: Olympus VN-8600PC solid state recorder. Probably not the best equipment used to record music, as some sounds become louder or quieter, depending how busy the music becomes. I don't usually use this recorder to record music, as I often use it to record radio instead. But I just wanted a rough recording of the performance without using too much equipment, and the MP3 file was easily transferred to the computer using the USB connections.

Enjoy listening to this recording, which is a good example of what can be achieved using a Korg Volca Bass and very little else. No computer sequencing was used in this jam, only the sequencers used in the ES-1 and Korg Volca Bass was used only.
