Late Afternoon Sun in UV + IR (Timelapse)
I was going through my media folder, wondering why it was so full, and I came across a bunch of timelapse sequences from last year that I forgot to post. So, I guess I'll post them now...
This sequence was taken at Massasauga Park in the late afternoon.
I have a filter that blocks visible light and allows both ultraviolet and infrared light to pass though, creating strange images with vibrant purple skies and white and purple foliage. I liked the way the layers of clouds were moving in different directions this afternoon, so I set up a timelapse to capture it.
The sequence was captured on a full spectrum converted Nikon Z5 with the 14-30mm/4 filter. As you can see, lens flare is more of a problem with full spectrum shooting, and sharpness is compromised due to how the UV and IR light focus at different points.
I had a fancy new field recorder with me on this trip, so I was recording audio, but I was also talking the whole time, so none of it was usable, so I used the recording I made later this same night.
I composed the background noise last night for the last video, but I wanted to get more use out of it so I split the synth pad chords up across a few different noise makers for more tonal and textural variety. I wanted something that seemed kinda nice and unintrusive at first, but didn't feel quite right. That approach felt like the right fit for the images.
