In this Video, we talked about container-native load balancing where the External Load balancer directly sends the traffic to the PODs rather than the instance group. This is all possible because of NEGs (Network Endpoint Groups). Network Endpoint Group does not manage VM instances instead it's a collection of network endpoints represented by IP port pairs.The collection of IP addresses and port combinations allows network endpoint groups to target pods directly. Each pod has its own IP port combination.
Container-native load-balancing works with VPC-native clusters on the GCP. The only thing that makes cloud-native load balancing different from the default one is the VPC Native. This is the key difference.
We also deployed the GKE cluster in both ways and analyzed the traffic flows.
