Pre-Conference 1: Picture Smart & Optical Character Recognition Software: Resolving Visual Barriers
Persons with visual impairments cannot identify the visual characteristics and figures of a photo on computers and mobile phones. They wouldn’t be able to know the faces, background, and actions. They wouldn’t be able to imagine the colors and appreciate the structure presented on websites. They wouldn’t be able to read the scanned files and screenshots given in class. Through the advanced features of screen readers, they can now get access to these items digitally. Picture Smart and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software will break and resolve these visual problems so that they will get equal access and opportunity to experience printed materials and digital platforms. Moreover, they would be able to develop independence, social participation, and educational success. Join Rachelle Buenaventura in exploring how to use these tools to resolve common barriers.
