Deel 1. Oosterhout - Bruggen en Sluizen van het Wilhelminakanaal
In 2007 ben ik met mijn gezin vanuit Valkenswaard naar Tilburg verhuist vanwege werk.
Een van mijn grootste hobby’s is fotograferen en wel 360 graden bolpanorama foto’s.
De manier om voor ons Tilburg en omgeving te leren kennen en alle mooie plekjes was om erop uit te trekken met de camera.
Zo ontstond het idee om de route te volgen van alle bruggen en sluizen van het Wilhelminakanaal.
Het was een hele klus om maar liefst 29 objecten te fotograferen over een uitgestrekt gebied van 68 km onder verschillende weersomstandigheden.
Het Wilhelminakanaal heeft vele soorten bruggen:
Vaste bruggen (niet beweegbare bruggen) Spoor en autosnelwegbruggen.
De belangstelling ging uit naar sluizen en mechanische bruggen (beweegbare bruggen) kantel- hef en draaibruggen. (ook div. fietsbruggen)
Het grondgebied rondom de sluizen is afgezet en verboden gebied.
Met toestemming van Rijkswaterstaat heb ik op sluis I en III mogen fotograferen.
Het was uniek en prachtig.
De bolpanorama fotografie stond nog in de kinderschoenen dus van ieder object werden 6 foto’s in ’t rond, een foto v/d lucht en een foto v/d grond gefotografeerd.
Na thuiskomst moest ik de genomen foto’s op de PC met panorama software aan elkaar stitchen.
Nu anno 2024 kijk ik met weemoed naar de foto’s terug.
De natuur nog niet aangetast (ontbost) nog geen verbreding en verdieping (wel onderhoud werkzaamheden) maar tegelijkertijd realiseer ik me dan dat er vooruitgang moet zijn in de wereld.
Die altijd qua infrastructuur zal blijven veranderen aan de normen en behoefte van de tijd waarin men leeft. Toch wil ik aan iedereen de foto’s van weleer tonen.
Want ook ik ben 15 jaar ouder en dan zelf zegt men vaak “Vroeger was alles beter en mooier” oordeelt u zelf?

Bridges and Locks of the Wilhelmina Canal
In 2007 I moved with my family from Valkenswaard to Tilburg because of work. One of my biggest hobbies is photography, namely 360 degree panoramic photos. The way for us to get to know Tilburg and the surrounding area and all the beautiful places was to go out with the camera.
This is how the idea arose to follow the route of all bridges and locks of the Wilhelmina Canal. It was quite a task to photograph as many as 29 objects over a vast area of 68 km under different weather conditions.
The Wilhelmina Canal has many types of bridges: Fixed bridges (non-movable bridges) Rail and highway bridges. Interest focused on locks and mechanical bridges (movable bridges), tilting, lifting and swing bridges. (also various bicycle bridges)
The territory around the locks is cordoned off and a prohibited area. With permission from Rijkswaterstaat I was allowed to take photographs at locks I and III. It was unique and beautiful.
Sphere panorama photography was still in its infancy, so 6 photos of each object were taken in the round, a photo of the sky and a photo of the ground. After returning home I had to stitch together the photos I took on the PC with panorama software.
Now in 2024 I look back at the photos with nostalgia.
Nature has not yet been damaged (deforested), no widening and deepening (but maintenance work is required) but at the same time I realize that there must be progress in the world.
Which will always continue to change in terms of infrastructure to the standards and needs of the time in which people live. Still, I want to show everyone the photos of yesteryear.
Because I am also 15 years older and people often say “Everything was better and more beautiful in the past,” do you judge for yourself?
