NEGATIVE FORMS OF VERBS
All Twi verbs begin with a constant. Besides, they can be negated by prefixing them with “m” or “n”.
By rule, all Twi verbs that begin with anyone of the following consonants “p, b, f, m” , in the negative form take the prefix “m”.
The rest of the verbs that begin with different consonants take the prefix “n” in the negative state
m is placed before verbs that begin with m, p, b, f
1. Fa (take it) will become mfa (do not take)
2. Pia (Push it) - mpia (do not push)
3. Bra (come) - mma (do not come)
mb is replaced by mm
1. Bɔ (to kick/strike) – mmɔ (do not kick)
2. Bra (come) – mma (don’t come)
3. Bu (to break) – mmu (do not break)
