Hello everyone, after five years of hype, Varka has finally arrived, but his actual power level is a massive slap in the face to everyone who waited. If you were expecting the strongest character in the game, you need to see these numbers before you waste your primogems.

We just sat through a massive special program where Hoyoverse spent twenty-one entire minutes explaining Varka. They even gave him his own high-budget animated trailer, which usually means a character is going to be a must-pull. They are clearly trying as hard as they can to sell him to us, but behind all that flash and the cool animations, there is a serious problem. Varka is entering a game that has evolved way past him. We are living in the era of characters like Mavuika, Skirk, and now Zibai, units that absolutely delete enemies from the map. Varka, on the other hand, feels like he’s stuck in the past. Today, we’re going to break down exactly why Varka’s kit is disappointing, why his damage is struggling to meet the modern standard, and the "Durin tax" you have to pay just to make him viable. If you’ve been saving for five years, you really need to hear this, because the "Grand Master" might just be a grand disappointment.
Let’s start with Varka’s kit, His kir feels like a recycled greatest hits album of every Mondstadt character we’ve seen since 2020. Now, from a lore perspective, this is actually kind of cool. The idea is that Varka is the one who trained everyone in Mondstadt, so his moves are supposed to be the "original" versions of what Jean, Diluc, or Eula do. It’s a nice touch for the story fans, but in terms of actual gameplay? It feels lazy.
The biggest issue right out of the gate is his normal attack string. Visually, it’s stunning. He dual-wields two claymores with incredible speed and skill. It looks powerful, but the reality is that his normal attacks by themselves are almost useless. They are just eye candy. You aren’t going to be doing any real damage just by swinging those swords around normally. To actually get anything done, you are forced to rely entirely on his Elemental Skill to change your multipliers and give him the infusion he needs to function.
