LIFE PROCESSES
All the living things move by themselves without any help.
Animal and plants have different ways of movement.
What are life processes?
The basic functions performed by living organisms to maintain their life on this earth are called life processes.
basic life processes are: Nutrition , Respiration, Transportation , Excretion , Reproduction , Control and coordination etc
What is Nutrition?
Nutrition is a process of intake of nutrients( like carbohydrates , fats, proteins, vitamins etc.) by an organism as well as the utilization of these nutrients
There are two modes of nutrition:
Autotrophic Nutrition: It is that mode in which an organism makes its own food from simple inorganic materials like carbon dioxide and water using sunlight energy.
For example: plants
Heterotrophic Nutrition: It is that mode of nutrition in which derive their food from other organisms.
The organisms which depend on other organisms are called heterotrophs.
For example: cow, deer
1. Saprotrophic Nutrition: It is that nutrition in which organism obtain its food from decaying organic matter of dead plants, dead animals and rotten bread etc.
These organisms are called saprophytes
1. Parasitic Nutrition: It is that nutrition in which an organism derives its food from the body of another living organism (called host) without killing it.
These organisms which feed on another organism are called parasites.
Holozoic Nutrition: It is that nutrition in which an organism takes complex organic food materials into the body by the process of ingestion, the ingested food is then digested and then absorbed into the body cells of the organism
