Going oldschool Trivium this week. The lead work on this song is killer and I find in general the lead guitar stuff on this album is a great way to bridge into the more technical shred guitar world. I love Trivium, Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu and teaching their solos to my students because they blend a mixture of lead guitar techniques (alternate picking, legato and sweeping) so well together and often have some challenge speeds to keep things spicey. The second solo (Corey's) is quite difficult and kicked my butt a bit (especially on a strat style guitar). Hope you guys enjoy though!
"Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" (often shortened to "Pull Harder" or simply "Martyr") is a song by heavy metal band Trivium. It appears on their 2005 album Ascendancy and was released as the album's second single in the same year.[1] Metal Hammer named it "one of the decade’s biggest metal anthems"
Vocalist and songwriter Matt Heafy has described that "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" "is a look at a villainous tyrant; one who can simply kill and destroy on will, push his faith upon all, be hated by all other powers around - and still be loved by many that he rules."[5]
