Here in California, you can legally split lanes. The reason for this law, is mostly because of Los Angeles traffic and all it's horrific glory. Some bikes don't have liquid cooled or radiators to cool it down and just like VW bugs, would overheat from not getting enough airflow. So! Here's a video showing how annoying it must be to live in another states (or countries) where you are not allowed to lane split (or lane share).
