AFTER EFFECTS TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST
If the bad asset trick doesn’t solve your crash, try these quick fixes:
▶ Clear cache – Delete your After Effects disk & media cache.
▶ Disable GPU acceleration – Switch Project Settings to Mercury Software Only.
▶ Check plugins – Temporarily move 3rd-party plugins out to test.
▶ Reset preferences – Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Win) / Cmd+Opt+Shift (Mac) when launching AE.
▶ Update or roll back – Sometimes an AE update or GPU driver causes the issue.
