How to add an image clipping path or outline Adobe® InDesign®

Here is an outline of the steps used in this video to add a clipping path to an image in Adobe InDesign: 

1. Create a new Path for the image in Adobe Photoshop (see video how to outline an image:    • How to outline an image the right way in A...  ) Note: the path should outline the object you want to isolate
2. In Adobe Photoshop, select your path and the Clipping Path option from the fly out menu
3. Save your image in Adobe Photoshop
4. From InDesign, select top menu: File, Place (command + D to place your image and shift + option + command + C to proportionally fill the image object area on a Mac)
5. Select your placed image and choose top menu: Object, Clipping Path, Options…
6. In the Clipping Path window, select Photoshop Path from the Type dropdown, and your path name from the Path dropdown (you also have the option to invert your path checkbox and inset the path)

That’s it, you’ve added a clipping mask to your image in Adobe InDesign.
