When A workstation requests a new IP address from a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, it uses UDP port 68 as the well-known port.

UDP port 67 is used by the DHCP server to listen for requests and send out replies. The DHCP protocol is used to assign IP addresses to devices on a network, and it is essential for maintaining an efficient and reliable network.

When a DHCP client requests an IP address from a DHCP server, the server assigns an IP address from a pool of available addresses, and the client is then responsible for renewing the lease of the IP address at regular intervals.
