Can Passwords Go Away?
Passwords are dead! Long live passwords! The idea of passwordless authentication has been around for nearly 20 years. Bill Gates called them insufficient at the RSA conference in 2004. IBM said "You will never need a password again" in 2011. But here we are in 2023 with more passwords than ever while more and more companies continue marketing the idea. Are we making progress, and is the goal even realistically attainable?
In this session, our panel will explore modern methods of authentication and how well passwordless technologies are working out. We'll differentiate between network and application passwords, and discuss the complex nuance that makes authentication challenging. Join us in looking to the future to see if and when we'll be able to say goodbye to passwords forever.
