Adding a new virtual disk to a VirtualBox VM is a simple process. Here's a step-by-step guide:
First, make sure your VM is shut down (not in a "saved" state).
Open the Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager and select the VM that you want to add the new virtual disk to.
Click on Settings.
In the settings window, click on Storage.
Under the storage tree, click on Controller: SATA or Controller: IDE (depending on your setup) and then click the Adds hard disk button on the right side of the window (it looks like a small hard disk).
A new window will pop up, asking if you want to add a new disk or choose an existing one. If you are creating a new virtual disk, select Create new disk.
Select the type of hard disk file type you want (VDI is common and fine for most users).
Then select either Dynamically allocated (which will allow the disk to grow as needed up to a maximum size that you specify) or Fixed size (which will immediately eat up the amount of storage you specify, but may be slightly faster to use).
Name your disk, choose a location to store the disk file, and select a size for the disk.
Click Create.
Now, when you boot your VM, it will have an additional disk. Note that the disk will be unformatted and unpartitioned. You'll need to format and partition the disk in the guest operating system before you can start storing files on it. How you do that depends on what operating system you're running in the VM.
