It was April 26th In 1986, due to human error and several design flaws, an explosion occurred inside reactor number 4 of the Soviet nuclear power plant at Chernobyl in Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union). A disaster that, until then, had never occurred before: a radioactive cloud was released from the flames, reaching half of Europe, and panic over nuclear contamination spread.
With the help of Luca Romano, a physicist and science communicator, we recount those dramatic hours that forever changed the history of Europe and the world.
We will recount the mistakes, the causes, the consequences, but also the stories of the
many heroes who helped limit the disastrous damage, at the cost of their own lives.
