The First World War, known in history as the “Great War”, was the event that shaped the last century. The crises that could not be resolved in this war dragged the world into a new catastrophe. The series of crises that started between the great powers of Europe, Germany, Russia, France and Britain, led the world to a war process it had never known. World War I, in which tens of millions of people participated, was the first act of what is called modern warfare.
In the first part of our series, we will examine the domestic and foreign agendas of the countries in the process leading up to this war. We will explain their policies, advantages, crises and social events. The first part of the “Pre-War” section is about Germany. How did the German Empire, founded in 1871, overtake the rest of Europe in a short time? How did it turn into an industrial giant, and how did it quickly reach the power to threaten England? We explain the Realpolitik built by Bismarck and the changes in Weltpolitik that came with Wilhelm II.
