Some people thinks, that hi res music recordings are need for ultrasound playback. And ultrasound reproduction increase sound quality, because it give additional musical information. But, other hand, we can't listen ultrasound. It may be checked right at home. And high-resolution audio opponents says, that 44.1 kHz cover full audible range and it is enough.
Some people guess, that bit depth 16 bit cover almost all human ear dynamic range and 24 bit or higher is excessive. Their opponents may thinks, that 24 bit cause lesser PCM “stairs”, and sound is closer to analog one.
Actually high resolution needs not for ultrasound or should be equal human ear dynamic range. But hi-res audio solve some technical issues of digital musical systems.
