My "quick tips" series is back, with a mega-classic synth bass patch, New Order's "Blue Monday". I spent a good couple of hours tonight listening to the record and attempting to recreate the patch. I think I got fairly close. For most of the two hours I thought it was a couple of pulses, it turns out it was - I think - simply two saws. With an octave of interval between them.

KEYBOARD MODE:
Set trigger at Multi
OSCILLATORS:
Engage both oscillators at the same volume, both at saw waveform;
Set the frequency of both oscillators at 32’;
Set the oscillator synch at off;
Set the oscillator interval at about 47;
FILTER:
Set keyboard tracking at Off;
Set the filter cutoff at 0;
Set the emphasis (resonance) at 34;
Set the filter contour at 77;
FILTER ENVELOPE:
Set the attack at 0;
Set the decay at 66;
Set the Sustain at 0;
Set the release at 0;
AMP ENVELOPE:
Set the attack at 0;
Set the decay at 99; (doesn’t matter really as the filter overrides it)
set the sustain at 99;
set the release at around 7;
ADD LIGHT EQ and COMPRESSION to emulate the record
