Sukut and our valued joint venture partners are constructing the Calaveras Dam Replacement Project for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. The project entails a full replacement of the 225’ high zoned earthen dam and partial demolition of the existing dam, originally built in 1925. This Risk Level 3 project includes approximately seven million cubic yards of earthwork with over 650 vertical feet of elevation change and several other components: a new outlet works shaft, tower and ADIT system, outlet works piping, mechanical encasements, deep soil mixing, a 45,000 cubic yard concrete spillway, retaining systems, rock reinforcement, foundation grouting and treatment, electrical, instrumentation, and road work to restore the dam to its original 31 billion gallon capacity. Thanks to Dragados USA, Flatiron, and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission team for collaborating on this world class project.
