How and When to Use Wait Time to Implement Assistive Technology
When we ask a child a question or prompt the child to perform an action it is important to give the child wait time. This allows the child an appropriate amount of time to think of, process, and execute the request. This is especially important when introducing a child to assistive technology or asking him or her to use a device in the classroom or at home. Sometimes an “awkward silence” might occur but this is important for allowing the child to work at his or her own pace. In this video we go over how to implement wait time as well as its importance!
