On this episode, I spoke to Andrew Wang, CEO and cofounder of Valon. Valon is a vertically integrated, mortgage-servicing, lending and insurance platform whose mission is “to empower every homeowner.” Valon has over 500k loans on its platform and serves roughly 1% of all homeowners in the US.

This was a special episode because Andrew was my old boss. I worked at Valon for two years, joining when it had ~50 loans and had a blast growing the company. I’m biased, but I think it's a special place with a lot to learn from.

We talked about Valon’s origin story, how regulated industries are taking a different approach to AI adoption, what makes for a good AI rollup, and why people still underrate the impact of growth solving problems in startups.
