Revda schoolchildren learned how to make daisy bracelets. The children attended a workshop at the Marshak Children's Library. The library staff held a creative workshop dedicated to Family, Love, and Fidelity Day, celebrated in Russia on July 8th.
"Everyone will have a bracelet like this as a keepsake—some will give it to their mothers, others will wear it themselves. It's a symbol of love and fidelity," said Svetlana Galyavetdinova, head of the S. Ya. Marshak Children's Library in Revda.
To make the jewelry, they needed thread, flower-shaped beads, and a special tool—a planchette. The mentors showed how to properly weave the base of the bracelet to create even, beautiful knots.
"It was difficult, but beautiful. I kept forgetting which side to start and which to finish with," said Sofia Golomolzina.
Dmitry Shestakov was the first to complete the task. A fifth-grader made a bracelet for his closest friend. Daisies as a gift are the perfect expression of feelings.
"I'll give my mom a bracelet. The daisy symbolizes fidelity, love, and purity."
"I want to give this bracelet to my friend. Because she and I never fight," said Daria Turok.
At the end of the workshop, all the children showed off their bracelets. The students also learned a lot. Librarians told the children the beautiful story of Peter and Fevronia of Murom. The saints became the patrons of the holiday of family, love, and fidelity.
