"Lo-Fi Jazz Guitar" Sample Pack: https://www.beatstars.com/Nonjuror/so...
Much love to all you guys who have copped this sample pack, y'all super good looking humans and the support is very very much appreciated.
I've made this video to show how I would flip a couple of the loops on the SP-404A. Because they're all made with the same guitar/amp/sampler combinations you can take small chunks out of different loops and they work together sonically.
0:00 The Samples
0:37 MFX & Chops
2:29 Pattern Sequencer
6:16 Final Beat
The two loops I'm working with:
"70 Dm-G-Cm-F [SP-202 Hi-Fi]"
"72 Cm-Ebm-Dm-Dbm [SP-202 Hi-Fi]"
I start by resampling both samples with the same MFX combination. This is one of my cheat codes for making a mono sample wider stereo which sounds dope in the mix with mono drums:
MFX 3 (Chorus) - Ctrl 1: full right / Ctrl 2: full left / Ctrl 3: 12 o'clock
MFX 16 (Vinyl Sim) - set this to taste, this is to colour the sample and mask the chorus a little so it sounds less "modulation fx-ish"
I chopped the samples into small chunks, 12 in total. This gave me the freedom to completely flip these into something barely resembling the original licks and work at any BPM.
Out of these I came up with two different ideas, the A & B sections with a handful of variations of each.
In the Pattern Sequencer I made a bunch of 1 bar patterns, even though in my mind the A and B sections are both 4 bar loops.
By that I mean, section A is: Pad 1 (x2), Pad 2 then Pad 3.
After all the patterns are made I then record the whole joint to the SP-303. Working this way is cool coz if I want to use the sp303 Vinyl Sim / Comp I can still adjust the levels on the sp404. Another thing I do here which I like is that I select just the guitar samples with Remain so when I'm messing with Isolator / DJFX Looper it doesn't effect the drums - if I start getting crazy n loose the groove doesn't get effected.
Lemme know what you think and if you have any questions about why I did anything get at me below!
