brighten the shadows in your picture
In this video ill be showing you how to bringten the shadows in your picture without destroyinng the highlights
ill be using this picture for the example and ive left the link for it in the description,
so i need to make a selection of the shadows but its actually easier to select the highlights first and then invert the selection, to get the shadows.
so im going to the channels studio, im clicking the three dots on composite red, then load to pixel selection.
so thats now selected the highlights , and to invert it i need to go over to the selections persona, then im going to commands which is the three dots (top left) and im clicking invert selection
so now the shadows are selected but i need to make that into a seperate layer , so im going back to the photo persona, I’m going to commands (three dots)
then pasteboard
then copy merged
then go back to commands
pasteboard
and paste
so if i go back to the layers studio , you can see theres the original layer and the shadows layer
so then i can deselect, (hold finger on the screen for a second and let go) and just make sure youre on the move tool and not the view tool or the options wont come up
then to brighten the shadows i need to change the blend mode, and i think ‘screen’ and ‘add’ work the best for this, but im going to put the blend mode on screen.
and if you want to brighten it up even more you can always duplicate that layer,
and if its too much you can adjust the opacity.
