InDesign Accessibility Pass with Sidekick
Accessible PDFs need real alt text on every image — but exports are full of blanks and auto-generated "AI generated: ..." placeholders that never got cleaned up. In this video I point Sidekick for InDesign at a document and have it audit the alt text on every image, then fix the ones that need it.
Watch it:
Scan all 12 images and sort them into missing / placeholder / already-good
Look at each image as it actually sits on the page — cropped into an oval, hidden behind a shape, tucked under a headline
Write alt text that describes what's really visible, not what the source file contains
Leave the images that already had good alt text untouched
The key detail: because it reads the composed page, the alt text matches what a sighted reader sees — cropping, masking, and occlusion included.
Sidekick works with Claude (or any other MCP-compatible AI assistant) to control Adobe InDesign directly.
