Understanding Static Routing and its Configuration on Routers
Static routing is a type of routing where network administrators manually configure the routing table on routers to determine the path that network traffic should take between different networks or subnets. In a static routing configuration between two systems using routers, network administrators would need to manually configure the routing table on both routers to specify the path that network traffic should take.
To set up a static routing configuration between two systems using routers, network administrators would first need to determine the IP addresses and subnets of the systems that need to communicate with each other. They would then need to configure the routing table on each router with a static route that specifies the destination network and the next hop router or interface.
Once the static routes have been configured on both routers, network traffic between the two systems will be forwarded according to the routing table. Any network traffic that is not addressed by the static routes will be forwarded to the default gateway or default route, as configured on the routers.
Overall, static routing can be useful for small networks or for networks where there is a fixed and known path for network traffic. However, it can become difficult to manage and maintain as the network grows and changes, which is why dynamic routing protocols are often used instead.
